Event photographer – The benefits of using for your business.

Christmas is always a  busy time for office parties and as an event photographer I’ve been photographing quite a few recently. It does feel strange being at such an event and finishing it sober, it’s not something that I ever managed when I worked in a big company!

Businesses are increasingly realizing the importance of holding special commercial events such as celebration parties for their sales distributors and in-house sales teams, award ceremonies for those who achieve sales targets, new product launch parties, special exhibitions, shows and conferences, motivational or educational seminars for the employees, and other promotional and marketing events.

This is where a photographer can play a key role to capture the atmosphere and mood of a venue or event far more than just recording who was there. These high quality images can then be used for your website, publication, newsletter, as a memory for event attendees or to promote your next event.

  1. I think I scared the event photographer at my wife’s Christmas party when I started asking about her camera. Eventually she realized I really was just interested in her Nikon, and not in giving her a hard time, and she warmed right up. I’m a sucker for a professional photographer’s camera, and am saving my pennies for when I can afford to buy a proper shutter.

  2. James – I get asked “what camera” all of the time, And to be honest most of the time I don’t know! I get confused with all of the naming/numbering conventions. Is mine a D300, D700 or D3 and is it the D3X or S?!?!?

At the end of the day they are a tool. As long as you get a half decent one , and its frightening how little you need to spend on them and a good quality lens (one area a lot of people forget) you are most of the way there!

  3. I’ve never heard of a photographer being at a business event before.

Okay – I’m game. You mention all these cameras in your post, but there’s a huge price range within the models you list. What do you think is a good budget entry level camera?

  5. I got to admit I’m not too familiiar with a lot of the cameras out there – they seem to bring out a new one every day! But of the ones I mentioned I think the cheapest D300 is the best pound for pound.
There is a good review on Dpreview here
